Learning Spaces Special Interest Group
Who are we? We explore how learning spaces participate in innovative teaching and learning practice. Despite an increase in global investment in infrastructure for learning there is an alarming paucity of research connecting the properties of space to productive human activity. In response, the Innovative Learning Spaces SIG seeks to connect researchers, professionals and practitioners from education, design and architecture. Together we explore how successful learning environments support different types of activity, and how existing spaces or practices can be modified to enhance valued learning activities. We take a broad approach to learning, and whilst our interest in spaces for learning is grounded in the physical it extends to include the many ways in which the digital challenges, disrupts and enhances the physical.
Our convenors: Dr Pippa Yeoman and Dr Stephanie Wilson
