At the nexus of learning and innovation

Learning Analytics Research Group: "Unlocking Canvas through Data"

At the age of data, CRLI proudly present our Learning Analytics Research Group who explore the use of data to improve learning in schools, higher-education, and beyond.

Learning Analytics Research Group (LA SIG) joint with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) Portfolio connects researchers in exploring areas including algorithms for data processing, ethical issues derived from the use of data, use of institutional data, connection with pedagogical approaches, and using data to promote student engagement. Their key focus is in using educational technologies to increase the educators abilities to leverage data from student interaction in effective and ethical ways.

The LA SIG believes that there are many possibilities for improving learning and teaching through the meaningful application of small and big datasets about students and their engagement with a variety of learning environments. Particularly, as students and staff embrace Canvas at Sydney, we have a great opportunity to leverage Canvas’ transparency and rich datasets to better understand, research, and enhance students’ learning and our blended/online teaching.

A workshop designed by this unique group is coming up!

Unlocking the potential of Canvas and other learning data
