A Centre for Research on Learning and Innovation seminar with Dr Jen Ross

Where

Room 612, Education Building A35, University of Sydney

In this talk, senior lecturer from the University of Edinburgh Dr Jen Ross will draw from David Lyon’s recent work on surveillance culture, and put this in the context of established and emerging technology-related developments in higher education. Using examples including biometric attendance monitoring and algorithmic plagiarism detection, Dr Ross will explore how teachers’ active participation in “attempt[ing] to regulate their own surveillance and the surveillance of others” (Lyon 2017, p.824) is changing the nature of relationships between students and teachers
