The increasingly competitive, fluid and challenging work environments of the futurerequire graduates who are prepared to work with knowledge that doesn’t yet exist, using practices that don’t yet exist, in jobs that don’t exist. In this seminar, we’ll look at a new Canadian project aiming to address some of this need by developing “capability to engage effectively with innovation in the workplace” as a Graduate Quality.
Congratulations to our Finnish colleagues, Professor Kai Hakkarainen and his team, who have been awarded a strategic grant for the project “Growing mind: Educational transformations for facilitating sustainable personal, social, and institutional renewal at the digital age”.
This five year multimillion-dollar project is a part of the Strategic Research Programme of the Academy of Finland “Keys to Sustainable Growth”.
In this workshop the Instructional Design & eLearning community will work with The University of Sydney Centre for Research on Learning and Innovation team to design an (online) space for eLearning practitioners to interact with academics on the innovation of eLearning methods, practices and technologies.

You will learn about Design Thinking by applying the principles to a problem where you are one of the ‘customers’.
You’ll be introduced to the basic concepts and tools of Design Thinking and apply these to design an online space where practitioners and researchers can jointly work on eLearning innovation. You will be thinking about issues such as:
Dwayne comes from a background working in edtech startups. He is now finishing his Masters dissertation in the Masters of Learning Sciences and Technology program, where he is studying how learning sciences research gets applied in industry.
Dwayne: I study the variance in how edtech entrepreneurs access and apply research in the learning sciences.
Dwayne: My research has been motivated by my own personal experiences in edtech startups as well as a practical desire to help inform strategies for making research in the learning sciences accessible to a larger demographic.
Five University of Sydney Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates have been awarded a top up scholarship to participate in the Sydney Research Excellence Initiative 'SREI’ 2020 project entitled "Understanding and facilitating learning in emerging knowledge co-creation spaces", within the CRLI.
